Bullying Prevention
One of the eight Core Values of Edina Public Schools is Inclusion:
“We believe in the inherent dignity of all people, we celebrate individuality, and we value and appreciate diversity.”
This belief is central to the culture of acceptance in our district and each of our schools.
We also take seriously the right of every student to feel physically and psychologically safe at school so they will flourish academically and personally. There are numerous Board Policies that expressly prohibit any type of harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and other identified categories and characteristics.
We encourage students who have been subjected to harassment or bullying for any reason, or who have witnessed harassment or bullying of others, to immediately report the incident to any school administrator. If preferred, complete the Bully and Hazing Form or the Discrimination, Harassment, and Violence Report Form referenced on this page. Every form submitted will receive follow-up from a school administrator.
To report incidents of bullying or hazing, please use the reporting form attached as Appendix I to Policy 514.
To report incidents of discrimination, harassment, or violence, please use the reporting form attached as Appendix I to Policy 413.
Both of these policies can be found in the District’s Policy Manual. The reporting forms can also be requested in the school office.
